How to plan a season of races in multiple countries without wrecking your budget or your training block.

The European hybrid calendar makes it realistic to race in four countries in a year. Doing it well means treating travel as part of the training plan.

Book races that sit at least six weeks apart so each one gets a proper taper and recovery week.

Fly with your own shoes, belt and grips only. Chalk and any liquids are best bought locally.

Arrive the day before. Same-day travel to a morning heat is the most common cause of a disappointing result.
