Athlete Interview: Racing 11 Hybrid Events in One Season

A European age-group athlete on scheduling, burnout, and what eleven races in a year actually teaches you.

"The first four races I treated every one as a peak. By race five I was flat and I could not work out why."

The fix was structural: two A-races per year, everything else raced as a training stimulus at roughly 90 percent effort.

Travel discipline mattered more than any training tweak — arriving a day early turned bad races into consistent ones.

The advice for new athletes: race more often than feels sensible in year one, then get selective in year two.
